Term 1 2018 - Week 3 Hi everyone, This week, the children have been looking closely under the leaves of our swan plants to check for little eggs. One morning, they were very excited to find an egg hanging under one of the leaves. Over the next few days the children will investigate any changes in the egg. One of our students kindly donated some caterpillars from home to put on the plants so they can start munching on the leaves. The children have been busy making a variety of items during our investigation time this week. Two of our students were very passionate about making their own musical instruments, so they made a drum set using tin cans and a microphone using cardboard and cellophane. We had so much fun listening to their music and singing while trying to think of a band name! Another student chose to use tin cans another way, by making tin can stilts. Week 11 Term 1 2018 This week, we have all been very excited about our investigations as they have been about the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The children used pipe cleaners to make their athletes. They chose the sport they wanted to represent and then came up with a creative way to make their pipe cleaner athlete perform the sport. We used modelling clay to help the “athletes” stand. The children made gymnasts, weightlifters, soccer players, rugby sevens players, amateur boxers, swimmers, a netball player, cyclists, a javelin thrower, and an athlete performing the long jump. We are super proud of the time and care the children took when making their athletes. The children also made their own gold, silver and bronze medals and wore them with pride.
